    On January 14 music lovers will be presented pleasant New Year surprise. The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (SYOA) will jointly perform with world-acknowledged accordion/bandoneon player Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi, who is widely known among Armenian audience. This will be the 3rd time Mario and SYOA work together on the same stage.

    In 2010 SYOA has acquired such a faithful and reliable friend as our general sponsor VivaCell-MTS. Within the frames of its corporate responsibility, this company has consistently pursued its strategy of development of Armenian culture, thus supporting one of the most important spheres of our life. Thereof, on January 23 the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia is going to perform at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. During the evening other collectives sponsored by VivaCell-MTS will also perform on the same stage. Headed by its artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan the orchestra will present the fourth part of the 5th Symphony by Piotr Tchaikovsky. Besides, jointly with the National Academic Choir of Armenia SYOA will present “Hymn of the Nations”, written for tenor, chorus and orchestra. The last piece will be conducted by Hovhannes Cheqijyan, the artistic director and principal conductor of the choir.

    On February 13 by the initiative of Armenian State Philharmoni? launches a new project entitled "Youth Philharmonia". The mission of the program is to attract young people towards the world of classical music. Headed by the artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia is going to perform during the opening ceremony of the event to take place at Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.

    Headed by artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia is going to present its next concert. The soloist will be cellist Aram Talalyan.

    Aram Talalyan
    Aram Talalyan is the third from the dynasty of well-known Armenian musicians Henrik and Geronty Talalyans. After receiving Master’s and Postgraduate degrees at Yale University (USA) in the classes of cello and conducting, Mr. Talalyan returned to Armenia. Since 1997 he has been teaching at Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. A. Talalyan is a founder and artistic director of the “Yerevan Baroque Festival” and the “Talalyan brothers” Viola-Cello Festival in Armenia. From 2010 to 2011 he has been appointed as an artistic director of classical concerts’ series at Cafesjian Center for the Arts in Yerevan. From 2000 to 2009 has served as a cellist of Komitas Quartet. A. Talalyan has collaborated with such renowned artists as Claude Frank, Yo Yo Ma, Gunter Herbig, Jesse Levin, Emin Khachaturian, Jaap Schroeder, Vladimir Spivakov, Diemut Poppen, Levon Chilingirian, Christopher Stembridge, many others.
    A. Talalyan is the RA Honored Artist and the laureate of numerous international festivals; he is the first performer and initiator of a great number of compositions written for orchestra, chamber ensembles and cello by Armenian and foreign modern composers. The musician performs regularly in CIS countries, Europe, North and South America and Middle East.
    Jointly with pianist Julietta Vardanyan A. Talalyan founded the piano-cello duo “Ars lunga” in 2009, which leads a wide concert activity and presently works on recording the project entitled “Anthology of Armenian music for cello and piano”. In 2012 the duet was honored with the Gold medal of Moscow Union of Composers.

    The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia and RP Musical management supported by the British Embassy in RA will implement a fundraising concert to help school N 20 in Gyumri after Lord Byron.
    The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia has been always standing for the support to its community and we are happy to have our small contribution in this charitable event as well.

    The school named after Lord Byron was founded in 1990 in Gyumri, following the 1988 Spitak earthquake which devastated the city. It was built thanks to donations provided by British government and the British people. The rebuilt school was opened by Margaret Thatcher on 10 June 1990.

    In 2013 whole music world is going to celebrate the 110th anniversary of great composer Aram Khachaturian. In this regard numerous cultural events are going to be united within one project – the Aram Khachaturian International Festival. The grand opening ceremony of the festival is going to take place on June 6 at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. On the same day in Yerevan will be held the 9th Aram Khachaturian International Competition. This year it is aimed at revealing talented young cello players. During the grand opening ceremony of AKHIC the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, the official orchestra of the competition will give a concert. The soloist of the evening will be cellist Gautier Capuçon from France.

    For the first time in the history of Armenian musical art, an Armenian orchestra will officially perform in the frames of an international festival, widely recognized as a high-status and world-class event in Europe. Particularly, the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan) has been invited to take part as an official orchestra in the 30th Musica Riva International Festival, to be held from 18 July to 4 August 2013 in Riva del Garda, Italy.
    At the opening ceremony of Musica Riva International Festival the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, headed by Isaac Karabtchevsky, will perform with Natalia Gutman (cello).

    Alexei Ogrintchouk started playing oboe at the age of 9. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire. He is the winner of a number of international competitions. Always performs with Vladimir Spivakov. Music critics appreciate his performances.

    Youth Orchestra of Armenia (artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan) presents a beautiful concert in honor of the 75th anniversary of the People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, maestro Martin Vardazaryan. Soloists are Arus Adjemian (piano, Armenia), Artashes Grigoryan (flute, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic). During the concert works by maestro will be performed.

    State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will perform in Moscow Conservatory. The soloist will be violinist Andrey Baranov (Russia). The concert will be held within the frames of "Aram Khachaturian" festival. It includes works by the great Armenian composer.

    State Youth Orchestra of Armenia headed by artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan will perform in House of the Unions hall in Moscow. Inga and Anush Arshakyans, Robert Amirkhanyan, Gevorg Hakobyan (baritone, Armenia) will also perform.

     The concert of the fifth Armenian Composers' Art Festival, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Romanos Melikyan and 90th anniversary of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, will take place. The concert program includes pieces from "Zar-Var" and "Zmrukhty" vocal cycles and romances. The soloists will be Armine Khachatryan, Armine Vardanyan, Arshak Muradyan, Piruza Arzumanyan, Anush Melkumyan, Luiza Yeremyan, Kim Sargsyan.

  73. Argentine rhythms will end the year

    State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (artistic director and principal conductor Sergey Smbatyan) traditionally ends the year with a beautiful concert. This year as well on December 25 the Orchestra will present a beautiful concert program, dedicated to New Year and Christmas.
    During the concert Argenthine rhythms will be presented - works by Astor Piazzolla.The evening will be full of bright melodies and rhythms of tango. The Youth Orchestra will perform with favorite Italian bandoneonist, accordionist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and flutist Sarah Rulli.
